Riding an electric scooter on the road is illegal enough as it is, but rigging up some sort of trailer for cargo at the back of one is whole other level. Last Saturday afternoon, a man was spotted riding his (highly) modified e-scooter along Paya Lebar Road — a device that was said to have taken as much space as a car.
Dangerous? Of course it is. Motorists who may not be able to notice the scooter’s low-lying trailer could have easily collided into the rig and caused a serious traffic accident. Especially so for the e-scooter rider, who’s exposed to elements without even a helmet on his head.
So it was good to know that the Land Transport Authority (LTA) have since shut the man and his weird e-scooter down. According to LTA, their Active Mobility Enforcement Officers spotted the man on his “super long e-scooter” during enforcement patrols yesterday morning. Not only was his trailer rig illegal, but his e-scooter was also found to exceed the maximum unladen weight of 20kg.
We also get to have a closer look at the e-scooter accessory, and man, what a weird contraption to be towing around.
“Dear all, please note that (personal mobility devices) are not allowed on the roads regardless of weight or length,” LTA warned the public.
