Supporters of Conservative Group BLEXIT Gather in Front of White House to Hear Trump

Staff and supporters of conservative group BLEXIT, and other supporters of President Trump, gathered in front of the White House on October 10, ahead of the president’s first public event since he announced that he tested positive for COVID-19.

Many of those in attendance wore blue shirts with “#blexit” branding – a reference to a group co-founded by right-wing activist Candace Owens. Earlier on Saturday, the organization, which encourages Black Americans to abandon the Democratic Party, also held a separate rally nearby before making their way to the White House.

President Trump, who just over a week ago announced that he, along with his wife Melania, tested positive for coronavirus, spoke to the crowd at the White House on Saturday.

An infected cluster of people tied to the White House has grown to over two dozen positive cases. Experts have cited the September 26 Rose Garden event where Trump announced Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett as a “super spreader” event.
