Suspected molester jumps into Rochor Canal to evade capture

A case of outrage of modesty was reported at the weekend at a church in Ophir Road in Singapore’s central area.

On Saturday (29 September) at 1.27pm, the police received a call for assistance at the church of Our Lady of Lourdes at 50 Ophir Road. Yahoo News Singapore understands that a man had allegedly molested a female worshipper inside the church and fled.

The suspect then jumped into the Rochor Canal and swam into a tunnel. A police officer jumped in after him and apprehended him in the water.

Yahoo News Singapore understands that the 26-year-old suspect was taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital, where he was subsequently arrested for using abusive words against a public servant, intentional harassment and drunkenness in public places.

Investigations are in progress.
