Swallows to wait on Bhele

Pretoria University 1-1 Swallows

Moroka Swallows striker Siyabonga Nomvethe faces a late fitness test to ascertain his availability for Friday's clash with Black Leopards. Nomvethe, already with two goals in the Premiership this season, suffered what appeared to have been torn ligaments during Swallows' 3-0 win at Orlando Pirates on September 1. The 34-year-old's injury subsequently ruled him out of action for Bafana Bafana's recent friendlies against Brazil and Mozambique. But Dube Birds boss Zeca Marques will give 'Bhele' until the eleventh hour to make the cut for Lidoda Duvha's visit to Dobsonville Stadium. "Nomvethe was at the physio this morning (Tuesday)," Marques explained. "We are giving him extra treatment to try and recover him as quickly as we can and on Friday before the match we will assess. "We will make a decision on his fitness and availability. It's just a slight bruise and it is very tender. "If he is not 100 percent fit, then that will be the decision. We are not going to take a chance. "Even if he is 80 percent fit, that still is not good enough for us. He has to be 100 percent fit or he can't play."
