Since "Munafik" managed to gross RM18 million, plans for the sequel are already in motion.

"Munafik 2" will commence principal photography before the end of the year.

11 Apr – After Syamsul Yusof's local horror fare, "Munafik" did so well at cinemas; even becoming the fastest local movie to hit such high box office collection in a short amount of time; the sequel for the film is already in the works.

"Alhamdulillah, after the unexpected support received for "Munafik", Syamsul has expressed his desire to work on "Munafik 2", said the managing director of Skop Production, Datuk Yusof Haslam to Kosmo!

Datuk Yusof Haslam who is also the father to the young director, has confirmed that the sequel will start filming by the end of the year.

Datuk Yusof also added that the box office victory has helped pacify the disappointment felt by Syamsul when his other film, "KL Gangster 2" (2013), became the victim of piracy, affecting the box office collection of the said action film.

Furthermore, Datuk Yusof has also expressed his gratitude towards the exceptional reception of "Munafik" in Singapore, as the film had extended its cinema run for another additional week.

"Munafik" is Syamsul's second horror film to date after 2011's "Khurafat".

It stars Nabila Huda, Fizz Fairuz, Sabrina Ali, Pekin Ibrahim, A Galak and Datuk Rahim Razali and has been playing at local cinemas since 25 February 2016.
