Mass Vehicle Ledger (MVL) Foundation, the Singapore-based start-up behind ride-hailing app TADA, announced on Thursday (15 November) a new app that allows users to book taxis.

TADA Taxi has about 2,000 taxi drivers registered on the app, eight days after MVL received the third-party taxi booking service provider license from the Land Transport Authority (LTA), said the company.

Like its TADA app counterpart, TADA Taxi operates on a zero-commission basis. No levy will be imposed on booking fees set by taxi companies for drivers.

TADA, which means “let’s ride” in Korean, launched on 27 July with more than 2,000 private hire drivers signed up on its platform. It now has 19,000 such drivers as of Thursday.

While the taxi-hailing option is also integrated into the TADA app, a separate app like TADA Taxi caters to riders who “strictly prefer taking taxis” over private hire options, said MVL CEO Kay Woo.

Kay Woo also hoped the launch of the service would also benefit drivers who felt that driving taxis may help them generate more revenue.

The launch of TADA Taxi comes a month after Indonesia-based Go-Jek launched a Singapore pre-registration portal for drivers, saying it is planning to start its ride-hailing service “GOCAR” soon.
