Tahfiz school beating: Najib urges speedy probe over boy's death

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib has called on the authorities to speed up their investigation into the death of Mohamad Thaqif Amin Mohd Gaddafi.

The 11-year-old boy died this afternoon at the Sultan Ismail Hospital, after being in a coma after having his legs amputated. He was alleged to have been beaten with a hose by a warden at the Kota Tinggi religious school where he was studying.

Najib said he wants the necessary legal action to be taken if there was any offence committed.

“I want the investigations into this case to be sped up and action taken under the law, if there is any offence,” he said in a Twitter posting today.

Najib said he was saddened by the Mohamad Thaqif’s death and extended his condolences to the boy’s family.
