TAMPIN: A man alleged to have taken part in a beating which led to the death of his younger brother was arrested at Batu 1, Jalan Tampin-Seremban here early this morning.

Tampin district police chief Superintendent Hamazah Ab Razak said the younger brother, 27, was beaten up by a group of three shop workers for allegedly stealing a pair of sports shoes worth RM200 at a bundle shop here at around 2am.

The victim had entered the shop together with a woman, tried on a pair of shoes and walked out without paying for them.

He was stopped by one of the workers, and a fracas ensued when two other workers arrived on the scene. The three workers proceeded to batter the victim.

It is then alleged that the victim’s elder brother found him unconscious by the roadside and rushed him to the Tampin Hospital, where the victim was pronounced dead at 4.45am.

"The elder brother lodged a police report claiming that his younger brother was beaten up by the three workers.

“But police investigations found that the elder brother was also involved in the fracas," said Hamazah.

Police arrested the four men to facilitate investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
