Tate Modern's sensory installation by Mire Lee
The Museum of Contemporary Art Tate Modern in London is hosting a gigantic installation by South Korean artist Mire Lee.
Suspended by chains and pulleys, the work explores the themes of regeneration and decomposition.
Fabric sculptures, known as ‘skins’, are hoisted onto metal chains, recalling the pulley systems used by coal miners. A large turbine, inspired by the building's industrial past, turns slowly, creating a factory atmosphere.
The sound of running water adds to the sensory experience. The exhibition will run from 9 October 2024 to 16 March 2025.
