KAJANG: A 25-year-old teacher cheated death after her car plunged into a 16-metre deep open sewage site near Kajang Perdana here today.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Othman Nanyan said it is believed that the teacher lost control of her car.

Othman said the female driver was heading back to her home in Taman Sri Jerlok after work when the incident took place at about 5.45pm.

“As the victim reached a T-junction, she is believed to have lost control of her Toyota Vios before crashing into the cement barrier and plunging into the large opening,” he said, adding that the pit was filled with water.

The car was fully submerged but the victim managed to escape with the help of passers-by who had witnessed the incident.

Initial checks revealed that the victim only sustained light injuries on her chest and neck. Further scans have yet to be conducted as of now.

She is currently hospitalised at KPJ Kajang Specialist Hospital for further treatment.

Othman said a crane was used to haul the vehicle out from the pit at about 7pm.
