Teen in Penang 'wrong way' fatal traffic accident remanded four days

BUKIT MERTAJAM: A 19-year-old woman, whose act of driving against traffic along the North-South Expressway yesterday claimed a life, has been remanded for four days to assist investigations.

The woman arrived at the magistrate's court here about 1.50pm, escorted by police.

She was garbed in purple lockup attire, and sported a bandage above her left eye.

Her right arm was in a sling.

Magistrate Dianne Ningrad Nor Azhar granted a four-day remand.

An elderly couple, believed to be the woman's relatives, were seen at the courtroom during proceedings.

However, they declined to speak to the media when approached.

After proceedings, the woman was ushered to a waiting police car and brought back to the lockup.

The case is being investigated under Section 44 of the Road Transport Department Act.
