  • Rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine might be looking at the witness protection program post-jail.

  • He was originally facing a minimum of 47 years behind bars, but his sentence could be much shorter if he continues to cooperate with investigators.

Rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine (also known as Daniel Hernandez) might not get nearly as much jail time as was originally reported. According to TMZ, because he cooperated with investigators, he might get a lesser sentence with the possibility of witness protection.

Tekashi plead guilty to nine felonies, including racketeering, conspiracy, firearms offenses, and narcotics trafficking back in November. He also admitted that he hired someone to shoot rapper Chief Keef. He was facing a minimum of 47 years and the possibility of a life sentence.

Now, it looks like the U.S. Attorney in the Southern District of New York has decided "not to prosecute [69] for the crimes set forth in Counts One through Nine," because of his cooperation, which means he'll probably get fewer years behind bars.

The plea deal states (per TMZ), "should the defendant successfully cooperate, the government agrees that it will file at the time of sentencing a motion ... for a sentence below any mandatory minimum."

It's unclear how many years he'll get because sentencing isn't until next year, but he's obviously at risk if he gets out early. "It is understood that the defendant's cooperation is likely to reveal the activities of individuals and that witness protection may be required at a later date," the plea deal reads.

Makes total sense, but as the citizens of Twitter dutifully pointed out, how are you going to disguise someone with a literal 69 tattooed on their face?
