A forward Erik ten Hag is seemingly determined to sign will push for a move as soon as the summer transfer window opens, and how much Man Utd can complete a deal for has been revealed.

Priority number one at Old Trafford this summer is signing an elite-level centre-forward. The Manchester Evening News claimed Tottenham talisman Harry Kane has emerged ahead of Victor Osimhen of Napoli as Ten Hag’s preferred signing.

However, neither player will be easy to sign, with Spurs and Napoli not holding reputations for being tough negotiators for nothing. The small matter of £100m-plus price tags also cannot be ignored.

In the event neither are brought to Manchester, varying alternatives have been floated including Dusan Vlahovic, Goncalo Ramos, Randal Kolo Muani and Mohammed Kudus.

The latter on that list is a known commodity to Ten Hag through their time at Ajax. Kudus, 22, can operate at striker if required, though his versatility allows him to compete as a second striker, attacking midfielder or on the flanks too.

The Ghana international has bagged 18 goals and six assists in 41 appearances for Ajax this term. He’s under contract until 2025, though according to the ultra-reliable David Ornstein, an Ajax exit is on the cards.

That’ll ring alarm bells at Old Trafford, with Ornstein confirming prior claims from the likes of Football Transfers and Manchester Evening News that Man Utd are interested.

Writing for the Athletic, Ornstein stated Kudus is ‘set to leave’ Amsterdam and has already rejected the chance to extend his stay beyond 2025.

Furthermore, he’s reportedly ‘made Ajax aware of his intention to exit once the window opens on June 10’.

Ajax’s model relies on frequent high profile sales and per the report, precedent dictates they’ll allow Kudus to leave rather than let a player who doesn’t wish to stay enter the final two years of his contract.

Arsenal and Newcastle are both credited with interest, but it’s Man Utd who’d seemingly stand the greatest chance of pulling off a move thanks to the Ten Hag connection.

If the Red Devils do act on their interest, Ornstein concluded a transfer fee of around £40m will be required.
