Ten Hag ready to ruthlessly sell six big-name Man Utd stars to make room for three incredible signings
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is reportedly ready to offload six of the club’s big-name stars this summer to make room for a triple summer coup.
The Red Devils are upwardly mobile under the leadership of Ten Hag. Since his appointment last summer, the Dutchman has impressed plenty with his ruthless streak many claim make a resemblance to Sir Alex Ferguson.
And there has been a rapid upturn on the pitch too. United are currently fourth in the Premier League ahead of this weekend’s round of games. Marcus Rashford has been rejuvenated under the Dutchman, having won a second Premier League player of the month award this week.
Their recent run of form has seen United lose just one of their last 24 games. And with Palace to come on Saturday, Leeds United then follow in a eagerly-anticipated double header.
As it stands, United are on target to reach the Champions League next season. With the club only making three modest arrivals in January, the club are likely to splash out this summer to further bolster their squad.
And Ten Hag is seemingly in the market for a new big-name striker. To that end, a report claims a Juventus man is fast emerging as Ten Hag’s No 1 target.
As well as a new striker, Ten Hag also wants to bring in a new right-back. Aaron Wan-Bissaka has impressed since coming in to the side of late. However, despite his mini-resurgence, it reportedly won’t prevent the United boss looking for another option. To that end, the likes of Denzel Dumfries remain on his wishlist.
Man Utd ready to ofload six players, claims report
In addition, the United manager is also seeking a new big-name midfielder this summer.
They could yet make a play for Jude Bellingham, though it appears he is destined to move to Liverpool. Instead, they are reportedly pushing instead for the signing of Declan Rice amid growing speculation he wants to leave West Ham this summer.
Any move for the England midfielder is likely to cost in excess of £80m, with the star having just a year left on his deal this summer.
And while the trio of blockbuster signings will likely cost United well over £200m, their kitty may be swelled by the exit of several big-name stars.
To that end, the Daily Mirror reports that United are looking to move on six players this summer. And the exodus will be led by club captain Harry Maguire, who has fallen down the pecking order this season.
Indeed, he was recently relegated to fourth choice centre-half with even left-back Luke Shaw preferred ahead of him. Talk of his exit in the summer also intensified amid recent claims made by Fabrizio Romano and links for Maguire to Inter Milan.
And Maguire will also be joined out the exit door by Anthony Martial and Scott McTominay. The former was loaned to Sevilla last season and while caught the eye early on in Ten Hag’s reign, has not kicked on in way expected of him.
Ten Hag willing to sell McTominay
McTominay, meanwhile, was linked with a move to Newcastle during the winter window. And while Ten Hag decided against his sale, the Scotland midfielder will reportedly be out the door come the summer.
That trio will also be followed by Alex Telles and Eric Bailly. The pair are both out on loan this season at Sevilla and Marseille respectively. But there will be no way back for them with Ten Hag to sanction their exits.
And finally, Ten Hag also wants to move on Dutch midfielder Donny van de Beek. Any such sale, though, will be subject to his successful return to fitness after recently suffering a serious knee injury.
But if they can find any takers, Ten Hag will reportedly look to cash in.
The former Ajax star has been a major disappointment since a £40m move to Old Trafford. Scoring just twice in 60 appearances, United will likely have to take a significant hit on the 25-year-old.
The exits of two midfielders in McTominay and Van de Beek will open the door for Marcel Sabitzer to earn a permanent move this summer.
Our transfer expert Graeme Bailey revealed earlier this week why the Austrian is already setting his sights on lengthy stay.
