Ten Hag told Man Utd star he has ‘0% chance’ of leaving; manager has ‘two big decisions’ to make
Erik ten Hag reportedly made it clear to Marcus Rashford that there was a ‘0% chance’ of him leaving Manchester United to join PSG last summer.
It initially looked likely that Rashford would leave Man Utd last year after he endured a poor season in 2021/22 under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick.
The forward struggled after recovering from shoulder surgery and some considered that it would have been the right decision had he opted to move elsewhere to rebuild his career.
PSG were heavily linked with Rashford last summer but he ended up deciding to remain at Man Utd.
Rashford was afforded a fresh start under Ten Hag and he has been in sensational form this season. He has grabbed 27 goals and nine assists in 44 outings across all competitions.

The England international is out of contract in 2024 and it has recently been reported that there is ‘some way to go’ with the negotiations before a new deal can be agreed.
Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Ten Hag was unwilling to let Rashford leave Man Utd last summer.
‘PSG really wanted Marcus Rashford in the summer of 2022, but also in the summer of 2021 when Mauricio Pochettino was coach.’ Romano wrote for Caught Offside.
‘He’s always been appreciated there, but for Erik ten Hag there was 0% chance of letting Rashford leave.’
Romano has also offered an update on Victor Lindelof and Scott McTominay.
The two Man Utd players have been bit-part players at best this season and they are being linked with moves elsewhere heading into the summer transfer window.
The transfer guru has indicated that Ten Hag has ‘two big decisions to make’ regarding Lindelof and McTominay this summer.
‘Ten Hag has two big decisions to make this summer too; the futures of Victor Lindelof and Scott McTominay,’ Romano added.
‘Inter and Atlético Madrid were interested in Lindelof in January but ten Hag said no – at that point. McTominay remains a player of interest to Newcastle, and one who is admired and appreciated by Eddie Howe.’
Speaking earlier this month, Lindelof admitted that he “wants to play games” but he has not yet “thought about” a summer transfer.
“Of course like every player, you want to play every game and obviously I haven’t done that this season,” Lindelof said. “But like I always say when I come here [international duty], it’s a pleasure to be here and I’m always happy to represent my country.
“I’m really looking forward to the games that we have and I spoke to Janne [Sweden’s manager] before to say I was really looking forward to coming here and to perform, and to be on the pitch with the guys again.
“Like I said, I want to play, that’s why I play football, I want to play games, but I haven’t thought about that [transfer away], right now I’m just focusing on the national team and then of course, the rest of the season with the club. Then in the summer we’ll re-evaluate and see what is best.”
