SINGAPORE — Four flavours of Tesco Finest Fruit Presse have been recalled after fermentation was found to have occurred in some of the bottles, causing spoilage of the products.

“This may potentially present a risk to health and the fermentation could also result in the built up of pressure in the bottles which may cause them to explode,” said the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) in a news release on Friday (26 July).

The four affected flavours, which come in 750ml bottles, are:

  1. Finest Sparkling Valencia Orange & Passion Fruit Presse

  2. Finest Sicilian Lemon & Mint Presse

  3. Finest Raspberry & Pomegranate Presse

  4. Finest Apple & Elderflower Presse Pack

All the products are made in the United Kingdom and come with a March 2020 “best before” date.

The SFA release noted that the European Commission Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF) had issued a notification on the products. NTUC FairPrice Co-Operative, the local importer of the drinks, has been directed to recall the products.

Those who have bought the affected products have been advised not to drink them and may return them to the stores from which they were purchased to obtain a full refund. Consumers with enquiries or who are looking to exchange the product may also contact the NTUC FairPrice Co-Operative’s customer relations hotline at 6552 2722.
