T'ganu boy walking to mosque killed in collision with motorcycle

BESUT: A 10-year-old boy was killed instantly when he was hit by a motorcycle near Kawasan Perumahan Pelagat 3, in Seberang Jerteh here last Friday.

District police chief Superintendent Mohd Zamri Mohd Rowi said the victim, Muhammad Danial Haqeem Jusoh, from Rumah Murah Seberang Jerteh, suffered serious head and leg injuries in the 8.15pm incident.

He said Danial was walking towards the Ulul Albab mosque, and as he was crossing Jalan Seberang Jerteh, a motorcyclist on a Honda C100 rammed into him.

"The 23-year-old motorcyclist, from Kampung Padang Tapong here, escaped with minor injuries on his arm," Zamri said

The body of Danial, who was a Year Four pupil at Sekolah Rendah Seberang Jerteh, was sent to the Besut Hospital for a post mortem.

"The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road and

Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving and causing death," Zamri added.

Meanwhile, Danial's mother, Rosanuti Yusof, 50, said her son left their house to perform the Isyak prayer at the mosque at around 8.10pm.

"Danial is my second son to die in a road accident, after his elder brother was killed in a crash in 2005,” she revealed.
