Thai gov’t warns against hoax message about Thai canned food contaminated with HIV

A circulating text message saying canned food, particularly canned fruits, manufactured in Thailand are contaminated with HIV.

Rumors circulating through text messages and social media websites saying canned food, particularly canned fruits, manufactured in Thailand are contaminated with HIV, have caused confusion recently.

Thus, the Royal Thai Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and in Indonesia issued clarifications that the said message is definitely a hoax.

The embassy in Indonesia said agencies involved in Thai food industry have attested that the country’s food products are safe and certified according to international standards.

Meanwhile, the embassy in Malaysia said the message clearly aims to discredit Thai food exporters and Thai products altogether.

The Thai government appeals to recipients of the message not to share the false news any longer. — UNTV News & Rescue
