Bangkok (The Nation/ANN) - The Muslim World Conference 2013 will be held at Chulalongkorn University next week. The theme of the event this year is "Competitive Collaboration Strategies and the Common Culture of the Asean Community".
The conference will take place on Wednesday and Thursday. It is hosted by the Muslim World Policies Centre of the university's Faculty of Economics, with support from the Thailand Research Fund.
The first day will be allocated to the three pillars of the Asean community (security, socio-cultural integration and economic integration), while the second day will focus on research carried out by the Asean Muslim Research Organisation Network.
The conference will cover Malays in the South of Thailand, Orang Siam (people of Thai descent) in northern Malaysia, Southern Thais and Aceh, ethnic Thais in the south of Myanmar, and the Chinese-Muslim minority in the north of Thailand.
