SINGAPORE — Here are the top 10 most-searched female celebrities in Singapore on Yahoo in 2020. (Check out the list of male celebs here.)

10. Quan Yi Fong

Quan Yi Fong has been digging up lots of tea from celebs in her new talk show, Hear U Out. Besides that, she’s been busy judging her actress daughter Eleanor Lee for being too heavy on TV – she said on Channel 8 show Yi Fong And Eleanor’s Kitchen that, as a celeb, her 20-year-old daughter should not exceed 43kg in weight.

9. Belinda Lee

Actress-host Belinda Lee just got newly hitched to her architect husband David Moore last year. Lee said in an interview in October last year that she planned to go on a honeymoon – we’re not sure how that panned out in the year of the pandemic.

8. Carrie Wong

Actress Carrie Wong spoke about her sexting scandal with Ian Fang for the first time on camera on Quan Yi Fong’s talk show, Hear U Out. The 26-year-old said she locked herself in her room and didn’t eat or drink when the leaked Instagram messages between her and the actor went viral. Seems like she’s ready to make her comeback after the harrowing experience.

7. Rebecca Lim

Currently seen in Channel 8 drama A Jungle Survivor, Rebecca Lim shed light in an interview on her relationship with former BFF Desmond Tan, who also spoke about the cooling of the duo’s friendship in a separate interview this year. Apparently Tan did something which offended Lim – what that was, wasn’t revealed – and to Lim, they are just “colleagues” now.

6. Jeanette Aw

Actress Jeanette Aw is also now a professional pastry maker after completing a patisserie course at Le Cordon Bleu Tokyo. Like many home bakers during Singapore’s lockdown, she decided to sell her confections due to popular demand – her What The Fudge Brownies caused such a stir that people who couldn’t get a hold of them tasted sour grapes and accused her of being selective in accepting orders; Aw said that all orders were processed through online forms.

5. Zoe Tay

This year the Queen of Mediacorp (can we still call her that?) starred in My Guardian Angels (which was slammed by viewers for homophobic tropes). Tay, who’s an enthusiastic hiker who often treks at MacRitchie Reservoir, also joined journalists on a long walk around Singapore, apparently to promote domestic tourism during travel restrictions.

4. Joanne Peh

Joanne Peh’s period drama Last Madame won the Best Asian Drama category at the Asia Contents Awards in October. The 12-episode TV series shared the award together with South Korean drama When The Camellia Blooms. In a column for Chinese paper Lianhe Zaobao, Peh also advocated for actors by calling out rude directors who don’t call actors by their name.

3. Jamie Chua

How did socialite Jamie Chua make the list this year? Oh, probably because of her racially insensitive Instagram Story in which she complained about not getting enough sleep because she had a nightmare about “Indian workers” rushing into her house (this was when thousands of migrant workers were being infected daily with COVID-19 in dormitories.) She later apologised, but it’s probably best to stick to her usual fluffy travel posts.

2. Jamie Yeo

DJ and former actress Jamie Yeo launched her very own jewellery brand, Lula J, in April this year. Apparently, the brand has been doing well – she said that she had made a six-figure revenue for the year. Looks like Yeo has a sound plan in case she ever retires from showbiz.

1. Fann Wong

Veteran actress Fann Wong still has star power, making it to the top of our list this year. She recently had to turn down an offer – extended by Zhang Ziyi – to appear on a popular China variety TV show, I Am The Actor, citing scheduling constraints. Local showbiz “Ah Bu” and celebrity hairstylist David Gan was very angry at his friend’s missed opportunity and wrote an Instagram post ranting at local artist managers, calling them “trash”. Good to know local talent has a fairy godmother looking out for them!
