Thomas Rhett Gave Himself a Quarantine Makeover and We're Freaking Out

From Country Living

  • Thomas Rhett unveiled a new look via Instagram on Saturday, and his fans have some thoughts.

  • The singer and his wife, Lauren Akins, have been staying at home in Tennessee with their three daughters during the coronavirus pandemic.

Thomas Rhett is known for his singalong-worthy songs, dynamic live performances, and, of course, for his suave appearance and good looks. The genre-bending country artist never fails to impress with his on-stage and red carpet style. For much of his nearly decade-long career, the Georgia native has sported a substantial beard that has become somewhat of a trademark.

Well, y'all, the beard is no longer. On Saturday, Thomas posted a black-and-white selfie to Instagram that showed his clean-shaven face for the first time in years. "First time in 5 years I’ve shaved my beard off.. I immediately feel 10 years younger," he said in the caption.

While Lauren has yet to officially comment on her husband's new look, many fans chimed in with reactions. Some followers were thrilled with the results—"Best part of quarantine so far," said one user—while others were more surprised. ("WHO IS THAT PERSON!!!" another follower commented.)

Thomas' friend and fellow country artist Charles Kelley (of Lady Antebellum) was quick to show his support of the fresh new quarantine look: "Well we’re all about to age 10 years from the stress of this so that’s a good start to combat it," he commented. Charles' wife, Cassie Kelley, also offered some words of approval: "I thought this was a college throwback! 30 is the new 20."

Thomas Rhett just released a new song last week, and will perform it on the ACM Presents: Our Country television special, which airs on Sunday, April 5 at 8 EST on CBS.
