KOTA KINABALU: The three police personnel detained by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) yesterday have been remanded for seven days starting today.
The three were held to assist investigations on receiving gratification of RM1,200 cash at the Centre Point shopping mall foyer, here, on Aug 22.
Magistrate Stephanie Sherron Abbie allowed the remand application from MACC for the trio – a policeman working at the state capital and two General Operations Force (GOF) personnel - aged between 35 to 53 years old.
All three suspects were held by MACC around town yesterday, for allegedly taking a bribe so as not to take action towards an individual who did not possess identity documents.
The arrests happened after MACC received a report that the suspects asked RM1,200 in cash from the victim.
The case is being investigated according to Section 17 (a) of the MACC Act 2009 for soliciting and receiving gratification. © New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd
