Three killed, one severely injured as car plunges into ravine

KOTA TINGGI: Three men, including two brothers were killed, while another brother is seriously injured, after the car they were travelling in fell into a ravine at Km60 Jalan Kota Tinggi-Sungai Rengit this morning.

In the 10am incident, driver Norhaizam Ngatino lost control of the Proton Persona before it plunged into the 8m deep ravine.

Kota Tinggi district police chief Superintendent Rahmat Othman said that Norhaizam, his younger brother Muhamad Izwan, 23, who was in the front passenger seat, and a friend, Muhamad Inderul Zain, 32, in the back seat were killed on the spot due to severe head injuries.

Norhaizam’s other brother Hisyamuddin, 26, who was seated at the back suffered serious injuries and is now warded at the Kota Tinggi Hospital.

“The victims were heading to Sungai Rengit from Kota Tinggi and the driver had likely lost control of the vehicle before crashing into a guard rail and falling into the ravine,” said Rahmat.
