TANAH MERAH: Three men were slashed by four assailants while sleeping at an unnumbered house in Kampung Jeranggau, Gual Ipoh.
In the 5am incident, the three men, aged between 20 and 33 years old, were attacked with sharp weapons.
Tanah Merah Deputy Police Chief Deputy Supt Azmi Mokhtar said one of the victims was injured on his head and his left wrist was almost severed, while his two friends were hurt on their arms and right legs.
“Initial investigation showed that the motive behind the attack was unsettled debts and disputes which involved the sibling of one of the victims.
“The police were informed of the incident after the victims were taken to Tanah Merah hospital for treatments. The case is being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means,” he said in a press conference at the police headquarters here today.
Police are now on a hunt for a suspect, Amran Awang, 45, to facilitate the investigation.
“We believe Amran is still hiding in this state. We urge him to turn himself in at the Tanah Merah police headquarters or the nearest police stations.
“We also urge the public to inform us on Amran’s whereabouts to help with the investigation,” he said. © New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd
