TI9 Dota 2 Day 1 updates: Fnatic beat Evil Geniuses, TNC Predator lose out to Mineski

The Group Stage of The International 2019 Dota 2 championships kicked off at 10am on Thursday (15 August).

18 teams from across the world are gathered in Shanghai to compete for the biggest prize of all in Dota 2 as well as esports.

However, two of the 18 teams will not make it past the Group Stage and into the Main Stage held in the Mercedes-Benz Arena.

Yahoo Esports looks at the results of the Southeast Asian teams competing in TI9 right now.

TI9 Grouping

Philippines-based team TNC Predator and Mineski are both in Group A of the group stage, while Malaysia-based team Fnatic is in Group B.

TI9: Group Stage Day 1 Results

TNC started off with a 2-0 win over Chinese team Keen Gaming, before losing 0-2 to region rivals Mineski. TNC ended off the day with a 1-1 draw with PSG.LGD, the Chinese runner-ups of the previous TI8.

Mineski started their run with a win over TNC Predator but lost the game in the night 0-2 against Chinese team Keen Gaming.

Meanwhile in Group B, Fnatic started the tournament winning North America-based team EG 2-0, before losing to Chinese team Vici Gaming 0-2.
