PETALING JAYA: PKR vice-president Tian Chua was today fined RM3,000 in default three months' jail at the Sessions Court for insulting the modesty of a police officer.

Tian Chua, or his real name Chua Tian Chang, 53, was found guilty of uttering remarks against a police officer three years ago, by Judge Yasmin Abdul Razak.

In convicting and sentencing Tian Chua, Yasmin said the prosecution had proven a case beyond reasonable doubt.

The Batu Member of Parliament was accused to have uttered words among others 'bastard' and 'stupid police', with an intention to insult the modesty of Deputy Superintendent Glenn A. Sinappah at the main entrance of Armada Hotel's lobby here about 7.45pm on April 14, 2014.

Tian Chua was represented by Latheefa Koya while deputy public prosecutor Suhaimi Ibrahim appeared for the prosecution.

A total of five prosecution and two defence witnesses, including Tian Chua, gave evidence at the trial.

The RM3,000 fine will disqualify Tian Chua, the three - term Batu MP from contesting on the next general elections.
