Tim Walz Taunts Donald Trump With Key Tactic From His Teaching Days
Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Walz on Tuesday drew from his time as a teacher while calling out former President Donald Trump over his 2020 election lies.
The Minnesota governor, giving a campaign rally speech in Asheville, North Carolina, talked about Trumpâs attempt to âviolently overthrowâ the last election result and declared thereâs âno doubtâ Trump lost and thereâs âno need to have fair and balanced news coverage on that because there is no fair and balance, he lost the election fair and square.â
Walz then segued into how the high school students he once taught and the athletes he previously coached knew that âyou play hard, the other team plays hard, and after the game, if you lose, you walk across and shake hands and congratulate the other team.â
âIn politics, you take it another step forward,â he continued. âYou walk across and congratulate the winner and then you pledge to do all you can to help them succeed because thatâs good for America.â
Then came the âlessonâ line:
âNow, I did teach for a while; I think Iâm a pretty good teacher, and I would always give my students extra chances to learn. Sometimes, you donât learn the lesson the first time. So Donald Trump did not learn the lesson the first time, but the good news is heâs going to learn the lesson in November.â
