Timelapse Captures Winter Storm Blanketing Central Iowa Neighborhood

A winter storm hit Iowa on Tuesday, December 29, with more than nine inches accumulating in the Des Moines area, according to the National Weather Service.

Timelapse footage shared by Timothy Fitzgerald shows a neighborhood in the Des Moines suburb of Urbandale, Iowa, gradually blanketed in white as precipitation fell on December 29.

On Wednesday morning, the Iowa Department of Transportation announced that most Iowa roads remained partially or completely covered with snow and ice. Another winter system was forecast to impact the southeast half of Iowa on New Year’s Day, the NWS warned. Credit: Timothy Fitzgerald via Storyful
