Timelapse Footage Spans Hong Kong Human Chain from Times Square to Tin Hau

Protesters in Hong Kong stood side by side to form human chains across the city on August 23, emulating the Baltic Way demonstration on its 30th anniversary.

This timelapse shows a largely unbroken chain from Hong Kong’s Times Square to Tin Hau, a distance of about a mile, per Google Maps.

Thousands of accountants marched earlier in the day, carrying signs listing the protesters’ five demands, including the implementation of universal suffrage and an investigation into the use of force by police during previous protests.

Protests in Hong Kong have been ongoing for months, initially prompted by a proposed extradition bill that would allow suspects to be transferred to mainland China.
