Tingting Cojuangco: More than a pretty face

Tingting Cojuangco is a celebrated socialite whose family and educational background has also gained her considerable political influence.

Cojuangco is the President Benigno Aquino III's aunt by affinity, being the wife of former President Cory Aquino's brother, former Tarlac Rep. Jose "Peping" Cojuangco.

They have five daughters, at least three of which have made names of their own in showbiz and high society.

Mikaela Maria Antonia "Mikee", is an actress and equistrianne married to former Congressman Robert "Dodot" Jaworski.

Also an actress is Regina Patricia "China", who is also a certified chef.

Margarita Demetria "Mai-Mai", meanwhile, is a fashion designer for Segue and Benetton marred to Italian businessman Andrea Zini.

Two of her daughters have not chosen to live in the limelight, however: Luisita Immaculada Angeles is a pediatrician while Josephine Victoria is a businesswoman. Both are married to businessmen.

Coujangco is also a ballerina and counts among her skills translation of archival material from Spanish.

A fashion icon, she was named by the Harper's Bazaar as one of the 10 most beautiful women in the world in 1968.

Cojuangco has since proven to the world that she is not just another pretty face, however.

The socialite is also a full colonel of the Reserve Forces of the Philippine Army since 1989.

Cojuangco's expertise in national defense has also earned her current position as president of the state-owned Philippine Public Safety College.

Cojuangco is running under the opposition coalition, but she has noted that there is no animosity between her and the President.
