TNB allocates RM10mil scholarships for public varsity students

KUALA LUMPUR: Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) is allocating RM10 million in scholarships for 1,000 public institution of higher learning (IPTA) students this year. Its chairman Tan Sri Leo Moggie said the special scholarship was targeted at those from low-income families. “For starters, the My Brighter Future scholarship will be awarded to 1,000 students who succeed in continuing their studies to the first degree level in Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM),” he told a press conference after handing out the scholarships here today. TNB, through Yayasan Tenaga Nasional, has spent more than RM1 billion since 1993 to provide scholarships and variable loans to 11,000 bright students. Moggie expressed hope this financial aid would be able to help the families cover the costs of their children’s education and allow them to escape poverty. © New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd
