Tokyo Marathon wins top honour at Mass Participation World Asian Awards

SINGAPORE — The Mass Participation World conference was held at the Hilton Hotel Singapore from Monday (2 December) to Wednesday, as over 300 delegates participated in discussions and presentations highlighting the trends and key observations of the mass participation industry.

The highlight of the conference was the inaugural Mass Participation World Asian Awards on Tuesday night, with the top award – Mass Participation Event of the Year – being presented to the Tokyo Marathon.

The Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon came in second, while the Ironman 70.3 Asia Pacific Championships in Vietnam completed the podium spots for the award, which was recognised by the Sports Industry Asia Awards 2019 in Manila.

During the conference, a resounding theme from various speakers – as well as the inaugural Asian Participant Survey – is the association of physical activities with health and mental well-being and the positive impact it can have on society.

“These insights will help facilitate collaboration and help the industry continue to evolve and to provide the best race experiences for the community,” said Chris Robb, co-founder and chief executive officer of Mass Participation World.
