Tom Fletcher and Matt Willis tattooed each other

Willis apparently has a tattoo gun at home

Tom Fletcher has revealed that he and Matt Willis tattooed each other one New Year’s Eve.

The pair are close friends and their bands – Fletcher’s McFly and Willis’ Busted – formed the supergroup McBusted. And it seems that one night they ended up giving each other a permanent reminder of their friendship.

Fletcher told the story on ITV’s Loose Women but he wouldn’t spill any details about the markings they gave each other, teasing that he couldn’t show the presenters.

The Loose Women panellists had been talking about the fact that Willis had a huge tattoo of his wife Emma etched onto his leg to mark their recent wedding anniversary.

Chiming in, the show’s celeb guest Fletcher shared: “I tattooed Matt and Matt has tattooed me. Although I can’t show you…”

As the panellists giggled, he explained: “On New Year's Eve, we go to their house, the Willis’ house, on New Year's, and he has a tattoo gun there, which is a terrible idea. I don't recommend it!

“And we both ended up tattooing each other, and I won't show you what it is!”

What’s the story with Matt Willis’ tattoo?

Willis unveiled a video clip of his new marking in a post on Instagram last month to mark his and Emma’s 16th wedding anniversary. Spreading across one calf, it shows TV star Emma pouting in a slinky dress, with the clip set to Stevie Wonder’s track Isn’t She Lovely.

“Happy Anniversary @emmawillisofficial… I love you more than ever,” he wrote. “16 years and it keeps getting better. Thanks @tomftattoo for your amazing work and fitting me in just in time for today. #anniversary #love.”

The tattoo certainly got people talking, with fans divided on whether they liked it. Addressing all the chat about it on his On The Mend podcast, Willis said: “It was a lovely thought. They say when you have plans, God laughs, right? Whatever that means! But I had all these grand plans and this big gesture of love, and I thought she was going to love it.”

The star, who hosts Love Is Blind: UK with his wife, added: “It wasn’t that response, shall we say. She wasn’t overjoyed, she was just like, 'Oh, so you got a tattoo of me, on you, for my anniversary present’ and I was like, ‘Yeah, it's cool right?’ It wasn’t quite the desired response. But I love it, I love it, I think it’s cute.”
