With over 1-million flats spread across 26 towns and estates, each HDB town and estate has its own charm and character. Here are the 10 most sought-after HDB neighbourhoods based on number of enquiries on EdgeProp.sg from Jan to Aug 2018.


1. Tampines





Based on our data, Tampines is the most popular neighbourhood from Jan to Aug 2018. This may be due to the launch of the latest downtown-line where it offers exceptional convenience to the city centre and Changi Airport. There are three shopping malls in Tampines in addition to Tampines HUB, an integrated community and lifestyle hub where the residents can enjoy sports and recreational activities.

2. Woodlands



The connecting bridge between Johor and Singapore.




Woodlands, was once a deserted neighbourhood where government created HDB jumbo-flats. They were created by knocking down the walls between adjacent 3- and 4- room HDB jumbo flat units in a one-off move by the Government to clear off unsold inventory in 1989.

Woodlands is also noted as the town connected to Malaysia's southernmost state, Johor Bahru, via the Johor-Singapore Causeway.

3. Sengkang





Marked as one of the latest neighbourhood, Sengkang, has developed rapidly over the years. Today, it is home to many young couples and families and comes with many amenities. Some amenities include Sengkang Sports Complex which connects to Sengkang Riverside Park and Compass One, a one-stop mall with a public library. The latest executive condo in Sengkang, Rivercove Residences, sold close to 80% of the 628 units during its launch.

4. Bedok

Bedok is noted as one of the largest town in Singapore and is suitable for families of different sizes and age groups. There are numerous amenities in this mature town such as the Bedok Mall and Bedok Integrated Complex where it houses Kampung Chai Chee Community Club and Bedok Sports Centre.

5. Ang Mo Kio




Ang Mo Kio was the seventh new town to be built in Singapore. In 2016, an elderly-friendly BTO development with three-generation (3G) flats known as Ang Mo Kio Court was launched, to cater to multi-generational families. Today, Ang Mo Kio offers a wide array of facilities and amenities for the residents to live, work, play and learn. Furthermore, Ang Mo Kio is transforming into Singapore’s first walking and cycling town as part of the government’s plan for a car-lite Singapore.

6. Kallang/Whampoa

The Kallang HDB housing estate is one of Singapore's oldest housing estates, located in the Central Region of Singapore. Kallang MRT station is only 5 stops away from Raffles Place MRT station and around 10-min drive to East Coast Park. 7. Punggol

In 2010, Punggol has been selected to be developed into Singapore’s first eco-town. HDB is using Punggol to experiment on new ideas and technologies to create sustainable developments. Today, Punggol is also known for its waterfront living. There are several notable recreational locations such as the Tebing Lane Container City which offers plenty of dining options and Coney Island is only next to Punggol.

8. Jurong West





Jurong West is the second most populous town in Singapore after Bedok. It is a self-sufficient town with Jurong Point Shopping Mall, the largest suburban mall in Singapore. Besides that, it is home to one of the top university in Asia, Nanyang Technological University.

9. Bukit Merah
