Top 3 Submissions From The Stars Of ONE: MASTERS OF FATE

This Friday, 8 November, the most exciting submission specialists in The Home Of Martial Arts grace ONE: MASTERS OF FATE at the Mall Of Asia Arena in Manila, Philippines.

Before they enter the Circle in the Philippine capital, here are three of their finest finishes – and a preview of the action we can expect if their match-ups hit the canvas.

Joshua Pacio’s Passion Lock

Joshua “The Passion” Pacio unveiled his unique and famous “Passion Lock” against Pongsiri “The Smiling Assassin” Mitsatit at ONE: REIGN OF KINGS in July 2018.

After taking Mitsatit’s back, Pacio went for a rear-naked choke, but he could not find a way past the Thai’s stout defense.

Instead, the Filipino hero brilliantly improvised. He used his left hand to trap the left arm of the unsuspecting Mitsatit, took a two-on-one grip, and used the extra strength to force his opponent’s arm behind his back into a shoulder lock.

With that, he cranked it towards his head and forced the tap at 3:37 on the clock of the first round.

Rene Catalan’s Arm Crank

Rene “The Challenger” Catalan showed off his sensational grappling skills when he submitted Adrian “Papua Badboy” Mattheis at ONE: QUEST FOR POWER in January 2017.

The Wushu World Champion took his Indonesian rival down in the second round, moved to the north-south position, and secured Mattheis’ right arm.

He then wrapped his legs over the arm, and with full force, bent it backwards into a painful armbar.

This was enough to force the tap from “Papua Badboy” with 2:52 left on the clock in the second round.

The Filipino veteran hopes to use his ground skills when he challenges his compatriot for the ONE Strawweight World Title on Friday.

Stamp Fairtex’s Slick Submission

Stamp Fairtex impressed in her ONE Championship mixed martial arts premiere on the global stage at ONE: DREAMS OF GOLD in August.

The ONE Women’s Atomweight Kickboxing and Muay Thai World Champion showed she is more than a striker.

Stamp dominated her opponent – Asha “Knockout Queen” Roka – for two rounds and proceeded to take the contest to the ground in the third frame.

The Thai star took Roka down to the canvas, moved to mount, and dropped heavy elbows that forced the India native to expose her back.

Stamp grabbed hold of “Knockout Queen’s” neck and squeezed hard to force the submission win with 1:29 left in the third round.

The Fairtex gym representative will face Bi “Killer Bee” Nguyen on Friday as she continues her quest to become a three-sport ONE World Champion.
