The Top Looks from Spring 2021 London Fashion Week

London Fashion Week, the second stop in September’s fashion calendar, is a hub of creativity that Town & Country editors look forward to seeing each year. COVID restrictions have eased in England, so the week kicked off with socially distant shows and presentations as well as digital events. Like New York Fashion Week, brands were imaginative and forward-thinking when it came to sharing their collaborations. Burberry streamed its show on Twitch, a streaming service that is popular with gamers (this was the first time the platform collaborated with a luxury fashion brand). Viewers could post their thoughts in real time, to mimic the interactive experience of sitting front row.

Church’s, the shoe brand, produced a video inspired by The Talented Mr. Ripley, transporting viewers to the seaside and offering hope for a spring and summer 2021 full of travel and adventure. Other designers worked with the constraints of sheltering-in-place, Matty Bovan presented his collection in his hometown of York, where he took over a 19th century chapel and draped his clothes on handmade dummies. And, with a reminder that essential workers should not be forgotten, Mark Halpern paid a joyous tribute to eight frontline heroes of the pandemic—including an ICU nurse, a PPE manufacturer, and a night bus station controller—photographing them for his spring 2021 look book and sharing a film of the women dancing in his exuberant designs. In some ways, the key elements of what make fashion weeks so special—side conversations about the shows, the glamour of traveling to far-off places or getting an intimate look at a designer’s real life—were all there in fine form. With many things upended this year, it was the perfect way to celebrate what we can, when we can. Below, our favorite looks from London Fashion Week.
