The £40million summer signing was able to continue following lengthy treatment but was then substituted after 78 minutes because he was still feeling some discomfort.
Maddison was able to leave the Emirates without the need for crutches or an ice pack, and initial signs were positive.
But Spurs are due to make further checks on the 26-year-old, who has started the season in brilliant form and provided two assists for captain Heung-min Son’s equalisers against Arsenal.
Speaking after the game, Maddison said: “I had a little moment when I tackled Jorginho where I jolted my knee a little bit.
“You do not want to ever be playing in a derby where you are not at 100 per cent because it can cost the team, so I had to come off for the last little period.
“I thought the lads were brilliant. We dug deep, showed quality… 2-2 may be a fair result in the end but we left everything out there and you cannot ask any more of the players.”
Spurs will also assess £47.5m signing Brennan Johnson, who was forced off in the second half on his first Tottenham start at the Emirates with a hamstring injury.
