Tottenham tipped to sign £55m ‘top’ striker target as 24-goal Kane replacement green lights transfer
Tottenham Hotspur have been tipped to sign Lille forward Jonathan David, who is being monitored as they attempt to replace Bayern Munich newbie Harry Kane.
Spurs have fared pretty well without Harry Kane so far as Ange-ball has been a lot of fun, but they are understandably still in the market for a new striker.
They have been linked with Chelsea outcast Romelu Lukaku, but David would be a longer-term solution for Spurs.
The 23-year-old enjoyed a stellar season in Ligue Un for Nice last season as he grabbed 24 goals and four assists in 37 league appearances.
Manchester United were linked with David ahead of this year’s January transfer window but he is now on Tottenham’s radar.
Last month, it was claimed that David is ‘at the top’ of Tottenham Hotspur’s list of options as they look for a forward to replace Kane, who joined Bayern Munich in a deal worth around £100m earlier this summer.
David is under contract until 2025 so Nice are able to demand a huge fee for their priced asset and journalist Ben Jacobs is reporting that he could cost as much as £55m this summer.

Jacobs has also revealed that David is “keen” to sign for Spurs and he “wouldn’t rule out” him heading to the Premier League before this summer’s window closes.
“Jonathan David remains a really interesting one. If we are talking about fees, that’s a very high fee, somewhere in the region of 60 to 65 million Euros (£50-55m) but it could come down because David is keen on the move,” Jacobs said via Last Word on Spurs.
“This is an interesting one because the only name if Kane left under Paratici that Tottenham were really seriously exploring when they first got wind, probably around March or April, that the Kane situation might be changing against them.
“The only name that they put forward to begin with was Jonathan David, but that was under Paratici and under Conte or interims, now again Postecoglou is going to have his say.
“I know some other Premier League clubs have looked at Jonathan David and they are not so sure about whether or not he’ll be a fit for Premier League football.
“The stats suggest he will but the reality is can he do it at a different pace and level? That’s what I’m most intrigued to see but I certainly wouldn’t rule out David.”
