Toyota is recalling more than 1 million cars and SUVs over a fire risk. The recall covers some 2016 to 2018 Prius and C-HR crossover models mostly sold in Japan. Toyota says some wires can become exposed, causing an electrical short and a fire.
21st Century Fox is making an even bigger bet on live sports. It just signed a four-year deal to carry live boxing on the main Fox network, Fox Sports 1 and pay-per-view. It’s all part of Fox’s effort to build up its programming, ahead of the sale of most entertainment assets to Disney.
One of the longest serving finance chiefs on Wall Street is retiring. Citigroup’s John Gerspach has been the CFO since 2009 and plans to step down next March. Gerspach was part of Citi’s turnaround, from the height of the financial crisis to its current stability. He’ll be replaced by the bank’s institutional finance chief, Mark Mason.
You’d better keep a close eye on your Uber passenger rating. The company is experimenting with banning passengers whose rating falls below 4-stars. It’s being tested in Australia and New Zealand, and is already in effect in Brazil. Uber says the move is aimed at improving passenger behavior.
