Tracker dogs roped in to find five boys feared drowned in Bukit Beruntung

RAWANG: Tracker dogs have been roped in to assist a search and rescue operation for five boys, who are feared to have drowned after falling into a retention pond in Kampung Timah Sungai SKC, Bukit Beruntung, here today.

The five were part of a group of eight, who were believed to be fishing from a bridge at the spot before the accident at 5pm.

Of the eight, one managed to swim to safety.

Two others, however, were pronounced dead after their bodies were found by rescuers about 50 metres away from their last known location at 6.44pm.

The two dead are believed to be brothers, aged 10 and 12.

The missing boys are aged between 10 and 13.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (operations) Mohd Sani Harul said they have summoned the K9 unit to assist the search.

At press time, rescuers are still combing the banks in search of the boys.
