SINGAPORE — Two major events will be happening around the city area and the Singapore Sports Hub this Saturday (30 November): the Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon (SCSM) and the sold-out U2 Joshua Tree Tour concert.

Due to the road closures and diversions along Nicoll Highway for the marathon, patrons attending the U2 concert at the National Stadium are advised to arrive ideally two hours prior to the show, said the Singapore Sports Hub in a media statement on Tuesday (26 November).

They are also advised to take the MRT as their main mode of transport, and use the nearest stations at Kallang or Stadium to reach the performance venue.

Patrons planning to take private-hire vehicles to the National Stadium are advised to drop off at Grab pick-up & drop-off point B in front of the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

The road closures and diversions for the SCSM – which will be held in the evening for the first time – are largely around the city area. However, the southbound part of Nicoll Highway will be closed from 3pm to 9pm on Saturday to make way for the evening 42.195km race.

Enhanced security check before entry

Since enhanced security checks will be done prior to entry to the stadium, patrons are advised to check the gate numbers on their tickets before going for the concert. They should proceed to the nearest checkpoints for their gates:

Standing-pen patrons (security check points will open at 4:30pm):

  • Gates 2, 21 and 22: Kallang Wave Mall level two

  • Gates 9 and 15: Outside OCBC Arena

Seated patrons (security check points will open at 6pm):

  • Gates 1 to 6, 19 to 23: Kallang Wave Mall level two

  • Gates 7 to 14: Outside OCBC Arena

  • Gates: 15 to 18: Sports Hub hard courts

How to make your security check smoother

To expedite security checks, patrons should note the following:

  • All water bottles including personal water bottles are not allowed

  • All bags larger than A3 size (approximately 29cm by 42cm) are not allowed

  • No storage facilities will be provided

  • Air horns, loudhailers, large banners, and selfie sticks are prohibited

  • Outside food and drinks are not allowed. Food and beverages will be available for sale inside the stadium

  • Patrons with no bags can use the Express “No Bag” Lanes for quicker entry at the security check points

Concert-goers who have yet to collect their physical tickets are advised to do so before the day of the performance, as large crowds and long queues are expected.
