Traffic arrangements for the state funeral of Lee Kuan Yew

The State Funeral Service for Singapore’s founding father and first prime minister Lee Kuan Yew will commence at 2pm on Sunday, 29 March.

The service will be held at the University Cultural Centre (UCC) located at the National University of Singapore (NUS).

The State Funeral Procession will be held on the same day, at 12.30pm. Mr Lee’s body will leave Parliament House for the University Cultural Centre in a gun carriage.

After the State Funeral Service, Mr Lee’s body will be brought to Mandai Crematorium.

The following roads will be closed to facilitate the procession and funeral service during the stipulated timing.


Traffic is expected to be heavy along the following roads from 12.30pm to 2pm.

a) Esplanade Drive
b) Fullterton Road
c) Raffles Quay
d) Shenton Way
e) Keppel Road
f) Cantonment Road
g) Kampong Bahru Road
h) Jalan Bukit Merah
i) Queensway
j) Commonwealth Avenue West
k) Commonwealth Avenue
l) Clementi Road

Traffic is expected to be heavy along the following roads from 4pm to 6pm.

a) Clementi Road
b) Commonwealth Avenue West
c) Commonwealth Avenue
d) Queensway
e) Farrer Road
f) Adam Road
g) Lornie Road
h) Upper Thomson Road
i) Sembawang Road
j) Mandai Avenue

Public bus services will be diverted due to the road closures. Members of the public may refer to www.mytransport.sg, www.sbstransit.com.sg and www.smrt.com.sg for details on the bus service diversions.

Police officers and Auxiliary Police Officers will be stationed at all affected road junctions to direct traffic.

Motorists are reminded not to park illegally along the affect roads as it will be towed away.
