Pro-Duterte vlogger and lawyer Trixie Cruz-Angeles, who was once suspended by the Supreme Court to practice for ghosting a client, is appointed Press Secretary by presumptive President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos, Jr., incoming Executive Secretary Atty. Vic Rodriguez confirmed in a press release.

Rodriguez said that Cruz-Angeles' role includes overseeing the operations of the Presidential Communications and Operations Office, the agency that conducts regular press briefings to journalists and other media practitioners covering Malacañang.

"I am grateful for the opportunity I am given to take part in the administration of President Bongbong Marcos as his Press Secretary," Cruz-Angeles quotes in the press release. "It is with humility that I accept the nomination and assume the responsibility of running the affairs of the PCOO."

Since Mr. Marcos promised in the campaign trail that he will not appoint a spokesperson and will instead address the people directly, Cruz-Angeles' role will be limited "to talking head during press briefings," said Rodriguez.

Unlike other cabinet positions, the Press Secretary doesn’t need the nod of the Commission on Appointments.

Cruz-Angeles, a current radio host of the Karambola program at DWIZ, is also a former commissioner of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts for cultural heritage, and former spokesperson of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines.
