SOUNDBITE (ENGLISH) US PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: "I disagreed with John Bolton on his attitudes on Venezuela. I thought he was way out of line.Whatever John Bolton does next, he probably shouldn't call President Trump for a reference. "

SOUNDBITE (ENGLISH) US PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: "John wasn't in line with what we were doing and actually in some cases he thought it was too tough, what we were doing. Mr Tough Guy. You have to go into Iraq!"
Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump blamed Bolton for the collapse of talks between North Korea and the U.S., saying Bolton offended North Korea's leader Kim Jong Un by demanding that he follow a "Libyan model" and hand over all his nuclear weapons.
SOUNDBITE (ENGLISH) US PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: "We were set back very badly when John Bolton talked about the Libyan model. What a disaster! Take a look at what happened with Gaddafi in the Libyan model. He's using that to make a deal with North Korea. And I don't blame Kim Jong Un for what he said after that. And he wanted nothing to do with John Bolton. That's not a question of being tough. That's a question of being not smart, to say something like that."
His ouster comes after Trump canceled peace talks with the Taliban at Camp David. Sources say Bolton was not on board with the talks.
The president Wednesday said he had five candidates looking to replace Bolton, and would announce the successor next week.
