When is Trump going to give his next speech?
Here are the key dates in the race to the White House ahead of the US presidential election later this year.
Donald Trump has said he has rewritten his upcoming speech at the Republican National Convention to focus on "bringing the country together" in the wake of the attempt on his life.
The former US president and prospective Republican nominee for this year's election survived an assassination attempt on Saturday.
Trump said a bullet had "pierced" his ear after shots were fired at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, and he defiantly pumped his fist in the air while blood dripped down his face after being dragged to the ground by Secret Service agents.
The FBI has said the shooter was 20-year-old Thomas Crooks, who was shot dead by the Secret Service at the scene. A spectator identified as 50-year-old volunteer fire chief Corey Comperatore was killed while trying to protect his family.
Trump will address his party's convention in Milwaukee on Thursday when he will be formally named the Republican candidate for the presidency.
Here are some of the key dates for Trump ahead of the election on 4 November.
Trump's speech at the Republican convention
Trump has arrived in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where the Republican National Convention takes place from Monday 15 until Thursday 18 July.
He is expected to address the convention on Thursday evening but has said his speech will have a different tone than the one he had originally planned following the attempt on his life.
In the first interview since the shooting, Trump told the Washington Examiner his speech will be “a lot different than it would’ve been two days ago”.
He said: “The speech I was going to give on Thursday was going to be a humdinger.
“Had this not happened, this would’ve been one of the most incredible speeches. Honestly, it’s going to be a whole different speech now.
“It is a chance to bring the country together. I was given that chance.”
In a separate interview with the New York Post, Trump said: "I'm supposed to be dead."
Trump's speech is likely to draw strongly from the assassination attempt, according to a social media post he made on Sunday night, which said: “In this moment, it is more important than ever that we stand United, and show our True Character as Americans, remaining Strong and Determined, and not allowing Evil to Win.”
President Joe Biden has ordered a security review of the convention in the wake of the shooting, however, the Secret Service has reportedly said it was '“confident” in the preparations.
The convention is held to formally select a presidential candidate, but Trump has already won 2,265 delegates in the primaries, which is enough for the nomination.
With Trump a shoo-in to be confirmed as the Republican presidential nominee, the most eagerly awaited announcement at the convention will be his running mate.
Prior to Saturday's assassination attempt, Trump had said he hoped to announce his running mate "close to the convention" but the revelation has been put on hold.
There are reportedly three candidates in the frame to join the Trump ticket: JD Vance, 39, the junior senator from Ohio; Doug Burgum, 67, the governor of North Dakota, who campaigned unsuccessfully against Trump in the primaries; and Florida senator Marco Rubio, 53, who faced off against Trump in the 2016 Republican primaries.
Democratic National Convention
The Democrats will hold their convention in Chicago, Illinois, between 19 and 22 August.
Unlike the Republican convention, it is currently shrouded in uncertainty, as Biden fights for his political career to be officially named the party's candidate.
The Democratic party has been in turmoil since Biden's disappointing performance in the first TV debate last month when he visibly struggled against Trump.
A number of high-profile party figures - and actor and fundraiser George Clooney - have called for Biden to step aside to give the party a better chance of winning the election, with US vice-president Kamala Harris, 59, being widely touted as the most suitable replacement.
However, Biden has remained defiant, saying: "If I slow down and can’t get the job done, that’s a sign I shouldn’t be doing it. But there’s no indication of that yet.”
The next TV debate
Once the parties have selected their nominees, the two presidential candidates are scheduled to face off in another TV debate on Tuesday 10 September.
The debate will be broadcast by ABC News and will be moderated by its journalists David Muir and Linsey Davis.
