In the market for a rental property in New York City? Donald Trump’s childhood home in Queens, NY, will soon be available. The five-bedroom Tudor-style home in Jamaica Estates will be on the market for between $3,500 to $4,000 per month, according to broker Jason Friedman of Coldwell Banker.
The home was sold at auction by Paramount Realty USA for $1.39 million in December 2016, just weeks after Trump was elected to be the 45th president of the United States.
Just three months later, the new owner flipped the property at 85-15 Wareham Place to another investor for $2.14 million—that’s a hefty premium to the average selling price of $979,400 for similar homes in the area.
The home is listed as the president’s address on his birth certificate.
“The home is more like a piece of art, sports memorabilia or something with intangible value,” Misha Haghani, founder of Paramount Realty USA told me at the time of the auction.
Before the house was put on the auction block, it’s then-owner, Issac Kestenberg, gave me a tour of the home. (See the video above)
During my tour, which was four months before the presidential election, Kestenberg told me he believed the property had more value because Trump once lived there. “There’s something in the walls. It’s a president’s house,” he predicted at the time.
Trump’s father, Fred, built the 2,500-square-foot brick-and-stucco home in 1940. It boasts a lot of original details, including a carved oak fireplace and staircase, plus a mahogany paneled library. But, it’s a far cry from Trump’s palatial triplex at Trump Tower on Manhattan’s Fifth Avenue and his current address, 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
When Trump was four years old, his family upgraded and moved around the corner into a stately 4,182-square-foot brick Georgian Revival.
