Thomas Tuchel reportedly ‘wants’ Bayern Munich to sign Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount amid reports linking him with Liverpool and Man Utd.

Mount’s future is in doubt at the moment as his contract at Chelsea is due to expire in 2024.

It is being heavily reported that he will be sold in the summer if he does not agree to extend his contract before then. It has also been indicated that it is ‘very likely’ that he will leave Chelsea later this year with Liverpool and Man Utd interested in him.

The England international has been admired by several different managers at Chelsea but this summer may be the right time for him to move on amid the ongoing rebuild at Stamford Bridge.

Graham Potter will hope to be at the forefront of this process after he replaced Tuchel earlier this season. The ex-PSG boss is now back as he has been brought in as Julian Nagelsmann’s replacement at Bayern Munich.

The Times are reporting that Mount is ‘wanted by Tuchel at Bayern Munich’. The Bundesliga giants are ‘considering taking advantage of Mount’s contract stalemate at Chelsea and the club’s financial problems by making a move for the England international this summer’.

The Blues are set to ask for ‘at least £50m for the midfielder’. Tuchel is a ‘strong admirer’ of Mount and is keen to reunite with the centre-midfielder.

The report notes that Bayern Munich are ‘already attempting to poach’ Anthony Barry. He worked with Tuchel at Stamford Bridge but he has remained at the club as the assistant coach under Potter.

A ‘compensation package’ is currently being discussed for Barry, who is staying away from Chelsea’s Cobham training ground until a ‘solution is reached’. The report adds.

‘Co-controlling owner Boehly last summer began the initial contract talks over extending Mount’s deal while acting as interim sporting director. Paul Winstanley, the new co-sporting director, has since taken on the duty of negotiations but a deal has not been struck and there is a widespread expectation at Stamford Bridge that Mount ends up leaving.

‘Liverpool have expressed a strong interest in signing Mount as part of Jurgen Klopp’s reboot at Anfield but they are among a group of clubs in the Premier League and across Europe watching the situation closely.’

Ex-Chelsea man Frank McAvennie thinks Mount “would love it” at Bayern Munich.

“They are selling Mason Mount, I cannot believe that,” McAvennie told Football Insider.

“That shocked me, something must have happened, maybe they have got somebody else coming in in that position.

“It must be a club decision that will not be the manager because that is his kind of player. Unless there is something not right.

“I can’t see him causing any trouble, he does not seem like that kind of player. But he will not have any shortage of clubs.

“He might go to Bayern Munich if [Thomas] Tuchel is there. He would love it over there. [Jude] Bellingham will be telling him how good the league is so it might be better for him to get away.“
