Turmeric farming empowers women in UP’s Gorakhpur

Gorakhpur (UP), Aug 18 (ANI): Women of Tiwran village in Gorakhpur’s Sahjanwa town are making themselves self-reliant by cultivating and producing turmeric. The self-help group was started by Sangeeta Rawat, a resident of the village. She formed a group of about 20 women. The women cultivate turmeric and then boil it and dry it in the sun. Later, the turmeric is grinded and packed by them to sell it in market.
