Twizo wants to make securing online data easy and hassle-free

Security doesn’t have to be clunky and inconvenient.

When the price of Bitcoin reached record highs early in this year, it brought cryptocurrency to the attention of the general public. Suddenly, an increased interest not just in Bitcoin but in other cryptocurrency is seen and more and more people are getting on online exchange platforms to try their hand in coin exchange.

But while cryptocurrency seems to have quite the long battle ahead, this recent interest brings to light one thing: people are becoming more and more comfortable doing business in digital platforms.

How many times a month have you gone online to pay your bills or purchase an item or even retrieve or share sensitive information such as medical test results?

In a world that is turning digital more and more each day, there is one thing that businesses and institutions should always take into account: online security.

The account-based nature of most digital platforms we use daily means that we store a lot of our personal information in many different platforms, protected only by an email address and the easiest six-character combination we think we won’t forget.

Even while the username/password combination is not particularly difficult to break, especially for people who neglect to regularly update their password or, worse, use the same username and password for multiples platforms, most people just cannot be bothered to go the extra mile to secure their accounts.

That’s why it falls to businesses to add that layer of security on their platform – after all, it is to their own detriment if security breaches happen.

The goal then is to provide a higher level of security without too much of an inconvenience for the user.

Sounds contradictory, but that is exactly what Twizo set out to do.

Secure yet convenient

When it comes to cyber security, it’s best to come in with the mindset that there is no foolproof solution to threats. Hackers are more innovative than ever and cyber security can be described as a never ending game of tag between the hackers and the security providers.

But that does not mean we cannot make it difficult for them. Twizo’s two factor authentication service makes it harder for hackers to breach systems by adding another layer of security – they may be able to get access to a username and password, but it’s more difficult to gain access to both that plus a mobile device.

Twizo also went further and added the use of biometric data in some of their products. In the event the hackers get ahold of the username, password, and mobile device of a user, it is quite a stretch for them to gain access to a person’s fingerprints or voice signature.

Where does the convenience come in, then?

Other two factor authentication service providers require the download of an app for it to be used. Twizo is aware that a lot of users think that the two factor authentication process is an inconvenience and has taken measures to provide businesses with integration tools to make it easier.

“Through Twizo, we want users to not have to think about user authentication but to have access to it via an easy-to-use and fluid environment. As we move more into an online world, online security will become even more critical than it already is. We advocate our partners take that seriously and we aim to give them as few reasons as possible not to.” -Eric Dadoun, Twizo

While Twizo does have an app, users have the option to receive their authentication tokens for free through messaging platforms they already use, such as LINE and Telegram, with Facebook Messenger and Viber coming along soon.

If users download the free app, they could generate tokens whether they are online or offline, or even opt to do away with manual input of tokens and use their fingerprint instead. There is also a feature called BioVoice that can be used with or without the app, which uses the voice signature of users to authenticate instead.
