Two directors were charged on Friday (15 March) with separately conspiring with a person to give bribes to a business contact.

Lawrence Ee Yeow Khiang, a director of wine distributor Wine World, and Sean Tan, a managing director with events management company Primo Holdings, are charged with separately conspiring with Arron Soh Hua Foo to commit bribery. The bribes were given with the intention of advancing the business interests of Ee’s and Tan’s companies.

Soh is a director at Wine World and a freelance business development manager at Primo.

Ee, a 45-year-old Singaporean, faces three charges of engaging in a conspiracy with Soh to commit bribery.

The two men allegedly gave bribes totalling $9,260, to Yeo Kim Long, an operations manager at Ethanol, a company from the food and beverage industry, between June and September 2016.

Tan, a 27-year-old Singaporean, also faces three similar charges. He is accused of giving bribes totalling $2,990 to Yeo between April and June 2016. Primo also has dealings with Ethanol.

Yeo and Soh were earlier convicted and jailed for their role in the corruption offences. Yeo was jailed four months and 10 weeks and given a financial penalty of $15,154 while Soh was jailed six weeks and 10 days.

Tan and Ee face a jail term of up to five years and/or a fine of up to $100,000 if convicted of their respective charges.
